The area of Hersonissos at Heraklion prefecture has an extended and diversiform coastline which offers to the visitors many swimming options, all of them in crystal clear waters. Here are some of the beaches you can visit.

Limanakia is a series of sandy beaches, one adjacent to the other. They all are quite small, yet they offer all kinds of facilities.

The beach west of the port and the beach east of the port.

The former is the larger one and it extends till the Kreta Maris Hotel. It gets really crowded during peak season and it can become very windy at times. All modern facilities including water sports are provided. The latter is smaller, but equally crowded. It starts from the New York Bar and lies to the east.

Silvia Maris Hotel Area

Here you can find several small beaches with clean waters. However, they are often affected by winds and they offer no facilities.

The Naturists' Beach

This is the only option for nudists in the area of Hersonissos. The scenery is rather rocky with little sand and no facilities provided. Even though this is a clothing optional beach, there is not much privacy for the bathers.

Nana Beach Hotel

Near the area of Nana beach hotel there are two beaches available. The main one is quite large and sandy, suitable for everyone. Next to the main beach there is another, smaller one, which though sandy, has a rocky, slithery bottom, making it dangerous for not good swimmers. The waters are fairly cold, partly due to the existence of fresh water springs.

Stalis (Stalida)

Not far from Hersonissos, in the village Stalis (Stalida) you will find a wonderful, crystal clear and less crowded beach. The area is easily accessible by car, public bus or taxi.

Star Beach Water park

In this ultra modern water park, apart from a huge sandy beach, you will find any kind of facilities and amenities for a day full of fun. You can practice water sports, enjoy a refreshing drink at the beach bar or sunbathe on the sand.
