CHORA (Ios Town)

The town of Ios is a typical Cycladic town characterized by the white houses, the stone-paved narrow streets and the windmills. It is located in the western coast of the island, in distance of 2 kilometres from the port and is built amphitheatrically, on the hill. At the top of the hill states imposingly, the church of Virgin Mary Gremiotisa. It was built at this point because an icon of Virgin Mary was found there. The view from the hill is panoramic and breathtaking! In the town you can go either on foot or by bus, which begins from the port. Walking to the town you will meet the ancient wall and the Orthodox Cathedral of the island, called Evangelisms. You will see also the 12 windmills and the open theatre "Odysseus Elytis", dedicated to the important Greek poet. The island during summer months is full of crowd and is very live! There are available a lot of hotels, restaurants, commercial shops and bars that offer to the visitors a comfortable and unforgotten stay.

ORMOS-PORT

The central port of Ios is situated on the slopes of the hill, near the town. It is the second most popular village of the island and for this; you can find a lot of hotels, commercial shops, taverns, tourist shops. The Gialos beach is full of bars and taverns, in order to pass a beautiful evening with an imposing view to the sea. From the port depart boats for some beaches of the island and for the nearby islands.

MYLOPOTAS

The region of Mylopotas is found in distance of 5 kilometres from the port of the island. It is a very picturesque location and is the continuation of the town.

MANGANARI

After the Town and Mylopotas, you will lead to the southern part of Ios. The first place that you will meet is the very beautiful Klima beach. Continuing the excursion you will pass the monastery in Kalamos and you will reach the village Manganari. The distance from the port is 23 kilometres. Manganari beach is one of the best Aegean beaches and offers a big variety of lodgings of each category and a lot of taverns, which serve fresh fish.
