Local Cuisine

Milos has interesting dishes, in full accordance with the Mediterranean Greek gastronomy. Guests should taste "pitarakia" which are little cheese pies, tomato paste (peltes) in several dishes and local sour cheese, which is called ksinomutzithra, and perfectly accompanies the greek salad. As far as sweets are concerned, taste spoon-sweet "koufeto" made from honey, cucurbit and whole almonds, which was given to newly married couples after their wedding and watermelon pie. Although "koufeto" is easily found even in souvenir shops, watermelon pie is found in bakeries.
