Patras port
The port of Patras is the second biggest port in Greece and is considered the gate to the West and more specifically to Italy. Patras is 220km west of Athens, capital of Greece, approximately 2 ½ hours away. The city can be reached by train from Athens (route duration 3 ½ hours) and by the suburban bus KTEL from Kifissos station (route duration 2 ½ hours). Tickets for both means of transport are sold at the stations.
From Patras you can travel to the Ionian islands and to Italy. More specifically, you can reach Kefalonia, Ithaca, Zante and Corfu islands, Igoumenitsa and Ancona, Venice, Brindisi and Bari in Italy. The ferry companies that travel to Kefalonia are:

The port of Patras is cenrtally located and easy to find. You cn reach Patras by:
Suburban bus station KTEL
From the suburban KTEL bus station you can travel to Athens and many other destinations in Greece. The station is situated just 300m from the main entrance of the port of Patras (Agiou Nikolaou str. entrance) in 58 Othonos Amalias str. Buses to Athens depart every half an hour and the duration of the route is 2 ½ hours if you take an express bus, and 3 hours if you take a regular bus (stops in Korinthos).
Train station
The train station in Patras is situated exactly by the main entrance to the port (Agiou Nikolaou str.). From there you can travel to Athens but to other parts of the Peloponese, e.g. Pyrgos, Kalamata etc.
