Getting around while in Santorini
Taxis are available throughout the island. Travellers who do not have a car when they reach the island will not face any problems getting to where they
are heading as there are taxis waiting at Athinios port. There is also a taxi rank at Fira's main square. Rates are fixed every year and different from
low to high season. Ask the driver once you are in and he will inform you of the price.
The island of Santorini is served by a well organised network of local buses. The routes and the schedules of the bus service differ from winter to

Useful tips when using transportation on the island
- In Santorini it is not rare for people to use taxis so you should not be surprised, if you wait a lot in order to find one.
- Before getting into a taxi, look very carefully the rates for every destination if your are at a taxi rank. Being informed by locals or other
tourists is the best way to be aware of how much you should spend. Otherwise you can always ask the driver before getting in.
- Having a car gives you the opportunity to visit places you could not see by bus. However always carry your driving licence with you and use
your seat belt, because there are strict penalties for the violators, and never drive while you have drank!!!
